New Bill To Make Drunk Droning A Prison-Worthy Crime In New Jersey
Just like drunk driving, lawmakers are also concerned about drunk droning and it may become a new crime in the state of New Jersey after lawmakers voted to approve the new bill.
The bill was passed this week in the State Assembly and the bill states that it is a disorderly person’s offense to operate a drone:
- Intentionally or unintentionally in a way that endangers another individual’s life or a valuable
- To take or help someone in the taking of wildlife
- While under the influence of any intoxicant or with a BAC level of 0.08% or above
Additional Information
For the offense of drunk droning, the person has to serve jail for 6 months and pay the amount of $1,000 in fine. Some other activities are also banned which include:
- Disrupting the safety or security of a correctional facility
- Invading privacy
- Harassing an individual
- Spying on a correctional facility
- Interfering with first responders
- Stalking someone
- Preventing or hindering the lawful taking of wildlife
The bill required the signature of Gov. Chris Christie and it was sent to him. His second term ended on the 16th of January 2018. After signing, it will become a law and offenders will be punished under it.
